Thankfully, this is almost always incredibly simple to do. Below, we explain how to correct mistakes on a filed confirmation statement.<\/p>\n<h3>How do I correct a mistake on the confirmation statement?<\/h3>\n<p>If incorrect information is provided in a confirmation statement, it should be re-submitted using the relevant section of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/confirmation-statement-cs01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Companies House form CS01<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/795466\/CS01_Part_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">CS01 Part 1: standard industrial classification (SIC) code<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/795468\/CS01_Part_2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">CS01 Part 2: statement of capital<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/795472\/CS01_Part_3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">CS01 Part 3: trading status of shares, or exemption from keeping a PSC register<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/796806\/CS01_Part_4.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">CS01 Part 4: shareholder information<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/file-a-second-filing-of-a-document-previously-delivered-rp04\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Form RP04<\/a> must be submitted alongside the relevant part of form CS01. Form RP04 is used to notify Companies House of a second filing of a document that was properly delivered but contains inaccuracies which are showing on the public register. GOV.UK provides further <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/file-a-second-filing-of-a-document-previously-delivered-rp04\/guidance-for-completing-paper-form-second-filing-of-a-document-previously-delivered-form-rp04\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">guidance on using form RP04 to file a second filing<\/a>.<\/p>\n            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qualitycompanyformations.co.uk\/formation-packages\/\" class=\"related related-buy\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span class=\"related-title related-buy-title\">The biggest range of company formation packages in the UK<\/span><\/a>\n        \n<p>Limited liability partnerships (LLPs) should use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/file-a-second-filing-of-a-document-previously-delivered-for-a-limited-liability-partnership-ll-rp04\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">form LL RP04<\/a> as an alternative to form RP04. However, there is no paper equivalent for parts 1-4 of form CS01 &#8211; these must be completed online.<\/p>\n<p>Form RP04 (and LL RP04) must be submitted on paper by post (there is currently no online option) and it can take up to two weeks for Companies House to process.<\/p>\n<h3>What is a confirmation statement?<\/h3>\n<p>Companies are legally required to submit a confirmation statement each and every year to Companies House. Previously known as an annual return, a confirmation statement must be filed by all companies regardless of their trading status. (e.g. even those which are dormant or not trading).<\/p>\n            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qualitycompanyformations.co.uk\/services\/confirmation-statement\/\" class=\"related related-buy\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span class=\"related-title related-buy-title\">Our Confirmation Statement Service<\/span><\/a>\n        \n<p>A confirmation statement must be completed at least once every 12 months (known as a \u2018review period\u2019). It involves company officials (e.g. directors or company secretaries) checking and confirming that the information held by Companies House is accurate and up to date.<\/p>\n<p>If any company information has changed since the last filing, the following details can be updated on the confirmation statement (form CS01):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Principal business activities, defined by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes<\/li>\n<li>Statement of capital<\/li>\n<li>Trading status of shares<\/li>\n<li>Exemption from keeping a register of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/people-with-significant-control-pscs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">People with Significant Control<\/a> (PSC)<\/li>\n<li>Shareholder information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, separate forms must be completed and submitted to Companies House if any of the following details need to be updated:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Registered office address<\/li>\n<li>Single Alternative Inspection Location (SAIL address)<\/li>\n<li>People with Significant Control (PSC)<\/li>\n<li>Company directors and secretary<\/li>\n<li>The company&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk\/registered-email-address\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">registered email address<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even if nothing has changed during the review period, it is still necessary to file a confirmation statement.<\/p>\n<h3>Why is it important that confirmation statements are accurate?<\/h3>\n<p>Company directors have a duty to submit confirmation statements under <a href=\"http:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/ukpga\/2006\/46\/section\/853A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">section 853A of the Companies Act 2006<\/a>. Failure to do so can result in personal liability, fines, prosecutions, and even the company being struck off the register.<\/p>\n<p>Maintaining the accuracy of company information held by Companies House is vital.
